Ruth Catignas, DNP, APRN-BC

Ruth Catignas is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Ruth has been practicing as a Primary Care Provider since 2007 and holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and a Masters in Nursing from Florida International University. Previously she served as Clinical Manager for 7 years and a Registered Nurse II for 20 years in Medical Surgical, Telemetry, ICU, Open Heart, and Cath Labs. She was born and raised in the Philippines, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was trained in Diabetes and Thyroid Diseases by Dr. Augusto D Litonjua, Endocrinologist and President of the Philippine Diabetes Association.

Together, she brings over 39 years of experience to the team and her patients. Ruth has been widely recognized by her peers and patients for her stellar patient care, exceptional performance, and profound dedication. Her patients choose to follow her to any location she practices.

Amongst her many honors, she was awarded Nurse of the Year at Memorial West (hospital-wide), Nurse of the Year at Memorial West (floor-wide) two years in a row, Best Attitude Award, Most Valuable Employee, and several Outstanding Performance awards. She maintains memberships in professional organizations such as the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses, and the Philippine Nurses Association of South Florida. Outside of the clinic, Ruth loves spending time with her three children, grandchildren, and her husband of 40 years. She enjoys singing, has been an active member of her church choir for 12+ years, and participates in numerous volunteer and charity work in her community.
