Florida has many sites that are providing COVID-19 vaccines to eligible persons. The state is prioritizing persons 65 years of age and older, health care personnel with direct patient contact, and residents and staff of long term care facilities.

As your dedicated healthcare provider, our goal is to share important information about how you and your loved ones can further protect your health, and the community.

You can appeal if Medicare or your plan denies one of these: Your request to get a health care service, item, or drug you think should be covered, provided, or continued. Your request for payment for a health care service, item, or drug you already got.

As with any private or publicly-sponsored healthcare benefit coverage there are limits, and unfortunately some costly healthcare needs are not supported by traditional Medicare.

Although most Medicare Advantage plans have been covering telehealth for years, traditional Medicare used to restrict the service only to certain devices and practitioners, and patients had to be at a Medicare facility.

Whether or not you are new to Medicare, you may have missed knowing about some of the benefits that are included in your coverage.

Most plans with Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D) have a coverage gap –referred to as a "donut hole.” This means that after you and your drug plan have spent a certain amount of money for covered drugs, ...

The timeframe for enrolling in a Medicare plan is called an enrollment period. You have a seven-month window around the month you turn 65 to first sign up for a Medicare plan.

Who gets Part A and Part B automatically? If you’re already getting benefits from Social Security, you’ll automatically get Part A and Part B starting the first day of the month you turn 65.

If you are what Social Security considers a “higher-income beneficiary,” you pay more for Medicare Part B, the health-insurance portion of Medicare and Part D. (Most enrollees don’t pay for Medicare Part A, which covers hospitalization.)

There is yet another choice besides traditional Medicare Parts A, B. D, and a supplemental Medigap policy. Some choose Medicare Advantage Plans for medical and prescription drug coverage purchased through private insurance companies.

A Medigap plan, or Medicare Supplement, pays after Medicare to help cover your deductibles, copays, and coinsurance that you would otherwise be responsible for. Medigap plans do not replace your Medicare Part B.

Finally, you no longer need your employer-sponsored health benefit coverage, or you no longer need to purchase your own individual coverage. Finally, those costs are gone – you no longer have health insurance costs, right? No, wrong!
